The Church's Lammas celebration will be this Saturday at Kings Mountain State Park (in SC) at Shelter 3. Fellowship time will start at 12pm. There will be an oil contest that every one is welcome to participate in, and everyone in attendance will judge the entries. So get your smellers ready! We will also have the church's corn dolly there to decorate during fellowship time. Feel free to bring some dolly decorations. If able, please bring a picnic item or some beverages to share. Oh, and I heard a rumor that NCPCOW's famous bread man may make an appearance during ritual! So, come out, bring the kids, and enjoy and celebrate the first of three harvest celebrations!
The North Carolina Piedmont Church of Wicca would like you to create a signature oil. The blend should consist of two or more essential oils and a carrier oil. The winning oil will be used by the church for rituals, presents, and for fund raisers, and it will be included in the church’s book of shadows. The contest will take place at the church's Lammas celebration at Kings Mountain State Park on July 31, 2010. If you will not be able to bring your oil blend to the park the day of the celebration, you can send it by a church member or you can mail it to NCPCOW, PO Box 3, Shelby, NC 28150. Your entry must be received by July 31 to be eligible.
Contest Rules:
1. You do not have to be a church member to participate, nor do you have to be physically present at KMSP on the day of the contest.
2. Entries received after July 31 will not be eligible.
3. You must blend 2 or more oils together and use a carrier oil.
4. Along with your oil entry, you must include a detailed recipe so that the blend can be recreated. Don't forget to include the amount of each oil that you used, including the carrier oil.
5. If you have some sort of inspiration or reasoning behind your oil choices besides the fact that the oils smell good together, please include that at the end of your recipe.
6. Your blend must be original. All copy cats will be disqualified. That being said, you are certainly welcome to improve upon a recipe and enter it.
7. Your entry may be in any size bottle, including small perfume sample bottles.
There is a first place prize that will be revealed the day of the contest. If you need some guidance in your blending, the following websites may be helpful:
