Lammas This Saturday!!! Yay!!!!
07/28/10 at 12:56pm

The Church's Lammas celebration will be this Saturday at Kings Mountain State Park (in SC) at Shelter 3. Fellowship time will start at 12pm.  There will be an oil contest that every one is welcome to participate in, and everyone in attendance will judge the entries.  So get your smellers ready!  We will also have the church's corn dolly there to decorate during fellowship time.  Feel free to bring some dolly decorations.  If able, please bring a picnic item or some beverages to share.   Oh, and I heard a rumor that NCPCOW's famous bread man may make an appearance during ritual! So, come out, bring the kids, and enjoy and celebrate the first of three harvest celebrations!

The North Carolina Piedmont Church of Wicca would like you to create a signature oil. The blend should consist of two or more essential oils and a carrier oil. The winning oil will be used by the church for rituals, presents, and for fund raisers, and it will be included in the church’s book of shadows. The contest will take place at the church's Lammas celebration at Kings Mountain State Park on July 31, 2010. If you will not be able to bring your oil blend to the park the day of the celebration, you can send it by a church member or you can mail it to NCPCOW, PO Box 3, Shelby, NC 28150. Your entry must be received by July 31 to be eligible.
Contest Rules:
1. You do not have to be a church member to participate, nor do you have to be physically present at KMSP on the day of the contest.
2. Entries received after July 31 will not be eligible.
3. You must blend 2 or more oils together and use a carrier oil.
4. Along with your oil entry, you must include a detailed recipe so that the blend can be recreated. Don't forget to include the amount of each oil that you used, including the carrier oil.
5. If you have some sort of inspiration or reasoning behind your oil choices besides the fact that the oils smell good together, please include that at the end of your recipe.
6. Your blend must be original. All copy cats will be disqualified. That being said, you are certainly welcome to improve upon a recipe and enter it.
7. Your entry may be in any size bottle, including small perfume sample bottles.

There is a first place prize that will be revealed the day of the contest. If you need some guidance in your blending, the following websites may be helpful: http://www.aromatherapypoint.com/how-to-blend-essential- oils/

As part of the ritual the men will be doing a version of a Haka (tradional Maori dance and chant).

For those who want to see what one is like they can go here.

Our chant will be in English and is as follows.

Hand genstures and dance will be instructed before the ritual.

Come to me
Come to me
You will bleed
You will bleed

Come to me
Come to me
You will pay
You will pay

When the sun rises
You may live
You may live

When the sun rises
you'll wish you hadn't
Arrrrrarg.

Also I believe the women have something planned just for them as well.   Grin

Hope to see you all there.

Huh
I'm kinda new here, and excited to come visit. I wanted to know what attire is acceptable for these occasions? May seem like an odd question but I could not find an answer on the website.

p.s. I am a big fan of Maori folk dancing especially the poi <3

"I wanted to know what attire is acceptable for these occasions?"
Pretty much anything as long as you actually wear clothes.  If you have ritual attire that you want to wear, please feel free to wear that.  If you just want to wear every day clothes, that's fine too.  We just want everyone to be comfortable.  Usually, some members will wear ritual attire and some will not, so either way you'll fit in.

Yes, we do have something planned for the ladies.    Pray that the box oven that we're going to use in ritual doesn't burst into flames.   Wink

Sarah -

They did box ovens at Twilight camp, and just needed a little bit of patience.  Shouldn't burst into flames if yours is the same.  Cheesy
